Co-Founder + Co-Leader
for the Palm Springs Unified School Distrcit
2016 - Current
The Public Art Masterclass is led by PSPAC Co-Chair Tracy Merrigan and artist Sarah Scheideman. Together they educate the Palm Springs High School Art 2 class on what is Public Art, demonstrate examples from around the world, in the neighborhood and ultimately inspire the students to create their own.
In the 3-week program, students then design their own piece of public art and showcase their talents at a local art exhibition hosted by the PSPAC. The goal is to one day fabricate a piece to install on their campus.
As the Co-Founder and Co-Leader of the program, we are responsible for:
-
Conceptualizing the projects for students
-
Educated students on the new topic
-
Purchasing all materials
-
Engaging the students, critiquing work to further their artistic ideas and concepts
-
Organize an art exhibition off-campus for students to showcase their ideas to the community
-
Fundraise money to fund a student sculpture in the future
